I know minimal about Algebra, but having done this type of work recently, I vaguely remember f(x), the letters, being variables inside of the equation itself.
So if you plug in f - 1 into the equation, wherever f is, you will have the answer after solving the equation.
Im going to find out where f and x will be real quick for you
