Isabelle shared her photo with 51 followers. Each of them shared it with 2 friends, doubling the number of viewers each day. Day Viewers 1 51 2 102 3 204 Provide an exponential function representing Isabelle's social media shares.

1738

OpenStudy (danjs):

the exponential general looking form is something like y = A*b^x right?

OpenStudy (ronlover101):

It would be number two cause if the are 51 followers and they sharedit with two people that is 51f*2p=102(p=people) (f=followers)

OpenStudy (ronlover101):

So @Snowman16 it would be number 2.

OpenStudy (ronlover101):

102

OpenStudy (danjs):

the value doubles each increase in x, or in 1 day the thing doubles

OpenStudy (danjs):

you are given 3 data points, you can use 2 of them to figure out the values of A and b

OpenStudy (danjs):

(1,51) 51 = A*b^1 (2,102) 102 = A*b^2 2 equations and 2 unknpowns, solve for A and b..

OpenStudy (danjs):

or you can use the ratio of each successive y value to figure out b right off the bat

OpenStudy (danjs):

each time you increase x by 1, y doubles, (you are multiplying by 2) b=2

OpenStudy (danjs):

then use any point to figure A y = A*2^x

Thank you! I needed some one to explain this. I'm doing a project with someone. I told her this was how you do it. Now I have proof.

OpenStudy (ronlover101):

lol ya.
