You read about several different people who claimed to be “captain” during the voyage of the Hispaniola. One is the appointed Captain Smollett, a serious man who is uninterested in the treasure. Another is Long John Silver-- the self-appointed leader of the mutinous pirates who plans to steal the treasure, destroy the original crew, and return home a wealthy gentleman. Though the men are clearly different in their approach to the treasure, they also have a number of similarities. How are Captain Smollett and Long John Silver similar and different? Compare and contrast the two in a response of four paragraphs. In the first paragraph, introduce the two characters and include a general statement about the two men’s similarities and differences. In the second paragraph, discuss the similarities of the two men. Be sure to give an example from the book to support your answer. In the third paragraph, discuss the differences between the two men. Be sure to give an example from the book to support your answer. In the final paragraph, conclude your discussion of the two men and make a statement about which of the men is the better leader and why
