OpenStudy (thebossofme191):

can someone explain how to find the lateral area of a rectangular prism? will medal

OpenStudy (danjs):

what is lateral area, the area of one rectangular facec, or all 3?

OpenStudy (thebossofme191):

hmm it didnt say

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If it is a right prism, the lateral surface area is the perimeter of the base times the height. That goes for any right prisms, rectangular or otherwise. If it is oblique, then we need more information. If all of the lateral faces are rectangular, then it is a right prism and you have no problem

OpenStudy (danjs):

it is the sum of 3 rectangular areas

OpenStudy (thebossofme191):

oh all the faces are rectangular

OpenStudy (danjs):

yeah 'rectangular' prism

OpenStudy (thebossofme191):

there are fore faces sry

OpenStudy (thebossofme191):

four*

OpenStudy (thebossofme191):

ok

OpenStudy (danjs):

right, add up the 4 rectangular areas

OpenStudy (thebossofme191):

i did

OpenStudy (thebossofme191):

i think

OpenStudy (danjs):

i guess it depends on how you define lateral as to what sides are included, i guess the longest length is the depth, and is th elength of each rectangle

OpenStudy (danjs):

what are the dimensions of the thing?
