Someone please please help me with this geometry quesiton
what is the image of the point (-5,-9) reflected across the y-axis
flipping over the y-axis will change the sign on the x coordinate
so the answer will be (5,-9)?
graph it and see
yeah, flip means 'perpendicular to' the y-axis
for a single point
aha... and how about this.. what is the image of the point (-2,-4) relfected across the line y = x
reflecting something perpendicularly over y=x, also called the inverse if it exists
dw:1449190874361:dw
here, the signs change on both y and x
i see I understand now :) !!!
sorry , forget that
oh
it looks like this, perpendicular to th eline y=x
dw:1449191063013:dw
just change y and x around
so (2,4)?
dw:1449191178658:dw
any point reflected over the line y=x, just change x and y like that
graph the points (1,1) (-1,1) (-1,-1) (1,-1) notice reflecting from one to the other over each axis, how the signs change
you good on that, or
ok so the answer is (-4,-2)
reflection over x-axis --- change sign on y coordinate reflection over y-axis ----change sign on x coordinate reflection over y=x -----swap coordinates (y,x)
