can somebody please check my answer? fan and medal vv The graph shows the location of Amber's, Betsey's, and Claire's houses. Each unit on the graph represents 1 block. If Amber walks from her house to Claire's house, then on to Betsey's house along the path shown, how far will she have walked in blocks? Round your answer to the nearest hundredth. (4 points)

OpenStudy (xxlyh):

OpenStudy (xxlyh):

15.32 blocks 17.63 blocks 18.63 blocks 113.00 blocks

OpenStudy (xxlyh):

I used the pythagorean theorem and got the answe 10:63 but it's in the choices

OpenStudy (xxlyh):

not*

OpenStudy (retireed):

You only found the distance from Amber's house to Claire's house.

OpenStudy (retireed):

Read the question carefully and answer the question they are asking.

OpenStudy (retireed):

Good job on the pythagorean theorem!

OpenStudy (xxlyh):

I did but I'm still not understanding what else I'm supposed to do

OpenStudy (retireed):

Where did Amber end up at the end of her trip?

OpenStudy (xxlyh):

betsey's house?

OpenStudy (retireed):

What does the question state where she walked to on her trip? And where did she end up at?

OpenStudy (xxlyh):

the thing I don't get is, I counted the distance between ambers house to claires house which is 8,7 and applied the pythagorean theorem and got the answer and thats where Igot stuck xD

OpenStudy (retireed):

It is 8 blocks from Amber's house to Betsy's house and 7 blocks from Betsy's house to Claire's. The distance from Amber's house to Clair's house along the diagonal is 10.63 blocks. So Amber walked to Claire's house and then to Betsy's house. How many blocks did she walk?

OpenStudy (retireed):

OpenStudy (xxlyh):

but wouldn't it be the same? sqr8 +sqr7 because claires house is 8 blocks away

OpenStudy (xxlyh):

I can't exactly count the distance from ambers house to claires on the graph because of its angle cx

OpenStudy (retireed):

The distance from Amber's house to Clair's house along the diagonal is 10.63 blocks. That is what you calculate at the beginning a^2 + b^2 = c^2

OpenStudy (retireed):

\[a ^{2} + b ^{2} = c^{2}\]

OpenStudy (xxlyh):

yes I did that haha, and the answers I got were always 10.36

OpenStudy (xxlyh):

it would be easier if I knew the points but I'm not getting it

OpenStudy (retireed):

xxlyh I used the pythagorean theorem and got the answe 10:63 but it's in the choices No you got 10.63 the first time.

OpenStudy (retireed):

|dw:1449259151959:dw|

OpenStudy (xxlyh):

ohhhh so it's 15 blocks? @retirEEd

OpenStudy (xxlyh):

I just re did it and got the answer 17.63 am I correct?

OpenStudy (retireed):

AC + CB = 10.63 + 7 = 17.63

OpenStudy (xxlyh):
