One of the first things that a programmer usually does is decompose (break down into smaller, more manageable pieces), the problem. In your case, where do we get the data from, what do we need to do the data and how should the report look? As you start on this, you'll be decomposing these three steps, and probably decomposing the child problems, grandchild problems, etc.
