first question
This is a n exercise in the order of operations PEMDAS ParenthesesExponenetsMusltipyDivideAddSubtract - perform the calculations in this order For example the numerator is 8 *3 + 6 - multipiy is done first = 24 + 6 = 30
where you have parenthese within parenthese work out the innermost first
Follow the rules of PEMDAS. In the numerator, you need to multiply first, so it'd be 24 + 6 or 30. In the denominator, you need to focus on the innermost brackets first. -2(6/2-(9-1)) -2(6/2-8) You currently have 30/-2(6/2-8). What should you do from there?
okk...... so i got the answer 24....
please show your work
- how did you work out the denominator -2[6 / 2 -(9-1)]
my work? my work is on paper....... wait.... is the answer 30
Type it out here, please. The answer shouldn't be 30.
no work out the denomianar the 9-1 in the inner bracket is done first to give -2[ 6/2 - 8]
im so confused. can you show me how to solve it and i will analyze how you did it. ill print it and it will help me on the rest of my questions, because itll show me how to solve it
you have a divide and subtraction in the parenthese - which comes first the divide or the subtract?
divide
the divide is done first so we have -2[3 - 8] Now work out the 3-8 next (as ist in the parentheses) then do the multiply by -2.
do you follow that ok?
uhm.....ok.. yes
when you have worked that out the final operation is to divide it into the numerator (30)
ok
what is 3 - 8?
-5
right now -2*-5 = ?
10
ok now finnal its 30 / 10 = 3
thats the answer?
what.... 3?
@welshfella
3 is the answer
oh, thanks
we workesd out the numerator to be 30 and denominator to be 10 so the fraction becomes 30/10 = 3
