MsBrains (ms-brains):

Can somebody help check 12 of my practice questions? I need to make sure they are correct to prepare for class. I will fan and medal

MsBrains (ms-brains):

#1

OpenStudy (gottennis121):

#1 is correct..

MsBrains (ms-brains):

#2 Not sure about this one

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

start by cross multiplying

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

7(x-3) = 7x - 21 4*21 = 84 so 7x - 21 = 84 I presume you can take it from there

MsBrains (ms-brains):

So B, X=15?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

yea

MsBrains (ms-brains):

#3 C or D

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

to convert any number to a percent, just multiply by 100

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

3.1*100 = ?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

what is 3.1 times 100?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

@Ms-Brains Please stop posting questions with no work shown. It is not appropriate for you to get others to do your homework or exams for you. Let's see what YOU can do.

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Okay @tkhunny I already did the work, and I was just making sure they were correct. Sorry! I didn't know I can't do that. ;-;

MsBrains (ms-brains):

3.1 * 100 = 310.0

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

good, so which answer choice do you think it is?

MsBrains (ms-brains):

B. 310%

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

great

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

You did not address my concern. All cheaters say, "I already did the work." The ONLY way for you to differentiate yourself from cheaters is to SHOW your work, not merely claim that you did it. Show YOUR work.

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Okay, give me a second to copy my work from paper to the the drawing pad. Lol, Dude I'm not afraid to show my work, it just seems easier like this. But yeah, I'm sorry. And I will post the work from now on. :)

MsBrains (ms-brains):

#4

MsBrains (ms-brains):

@tkhunny That good?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

yeah that looks good to me

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

(there's a simpler way to do it, though. 24 is 3 times 8, so the missing number must be 3 times 7)

MsBrains (ms-brains):

#5 I don't know how to show this work, because it seems like you can quickly do it in your head. D?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

yeah to show your work I would just write (0.24)*75

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

or, now that I realize it, (0.24)*75 = 0.75*24 = (3/4)*24 = 18

MsBrains (ms-brains):

#6 A. (sorry for not showing work. I don't know how to show work for %% problems

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

yeah 0.36x = 180

MsBrains (ms-brains):

#7

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

hm not quite

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

keep the proportion consistent either do miles/gallons = miles/gallons or gallons/miles = gallons/miles

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

(so, like, don't do something like gallons/miles = miles/gallons because that won't work)

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Oh, So If I do 115/5 = 18/x It wouldn't be correct?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

right, because on the left side you have miles/gallons and on the right side you have gallons/miles

MsBrains (ms-brains):

is it x/115 = 5/18?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

hmm not quite

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

you would need to switch x and 115 for that to work

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

You tell me if it's good. If it's YOUR work, then it's great. Not so much, otherwise.

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Hmm? That would mean it is 5/115 = 18/x But ^ that is the same as 5/115 = x/18. Just the back is switched and that doesn't make sense ;-;

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Yes, it's my work. Omg, I said I'm sorry. I didn't mean to violate any policy of anything. ;-; @tkhunny

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

nope, not quite 5/115 = 18/x and 5/115 = x/18 are not the same proportion

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

if you want to keep the two sides equal, you have to switch both, not just one

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

5/115 = 18/x is the correct solution because it puts gallons/miles = gallons/miles

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

You and Vocaloid seem to be getting along very well. If you posted questions on separate threads, as is customarily recommended, you could give Vocaloid more medals for all the good work. :-)

MsBrains (ms-brains):

Oh...okay. I get it now! so back to the question.. it's C, right?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

ahaha I don't really care about medals, I just do this for fun :P

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

nope not C, think carefully
