@triciaal

OpenStudy (danjs):

well if you divide a degree 2 by a a degree 1 function, looks like you will get a degree 2-1 function, a line

OpenStudy (danjs):

factor the polynomial, an you see the denominator is then gone but you have to keep track that that can not be 0, or x cant equal -4

OpenStudy (iwanttogotostanford):

would y be -1 or -9 ? @danjs

OpenStudy (pawanyadav):

You will get after factorization (x+5)(x+4)/(x+4) =(x+5) So you get y=x+5 Can you plot it

OpenStudy (iwanttogotostanford):

ok, but would my coordinates be (4,-9) or (4,-1)

OpenStudy (iwanttogotostanford):

@Pawanyadav

OpenStudy (pawanyadav):

(4,9) Plug x=4 Then y=x+6=4+5=9 So (4,9)

OpenStudy (pawanyadav):

That was 5 not 6

OpenStudy (iwanttogotostanford):

thats not one of the choices though there has to be a negative in there

OpenStudy (pawanyadav):

Can you show me the choices

OpenStudy (pawanyadav):

Are you there
