Help with moment of inertia! (See attachment)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need to find \(I_y\) I calculated it but got it wrong..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Assume a=5.2 in

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

Hey CShrix :p i am happy to scribble something out later, say 30mins, if that helps willing to gamble at this stage, however, that it's a silly arithmetic or algebraic error this is symmetric. and regular

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure that sounds great! Thanks X)

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

for the semi circle, \(I_1 = \dfrac{\pi}{4}3^4 \times \dfrac{1}{2}\) for the outer rectangle \(I_2 = \dfrac{6^3(5.2)}{12}\) for the inner rectangle \(I_3 = \dfrac{2^3(5.2-2)}{12}\) i ripped it from here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_area_moments_of_inertia#cite_note-1 if that does not help, pls advise :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks! I'll see what this leads to. Dunno what I'm doing wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Got it! Really don't know what happened haha. Thanks! X)
