Apply the power series method to obtain the solution of y' + xy =0

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

Hello, we will find someone to help you :D

OpenStudy (zale101):

Is this differential equations, correct?

OpenStudy (zale101):

@Kainui

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (kainui):

What have you tried so far @acrawford44 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

power series formula is not yielding the correct result

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

This is a first order ODE, but unfortunately, I wasn't taught this technique of using power series. :/

OpenStudy (kainui):

What answer are you getting? I can try to help you find your mistake.

OpenStudy (kainui):

I imagine the main trick is when you have this and try multiplying it by x or when you take the derivative that's giving you issues. $$y = \sum_{n=0}^\infty a_nx^n$$

jagr2713 (jagr2713):

Do you get it @acrawford44
