OpenStudy (airyana1114):

I need help determining whether a solution is extraneous or not.

OpenStudy (airyana1114):

\[\frac{ 6 }{ x-3 }=\frac{ 3 }{ x }\] I know that x= -3

OpenStudy (airyana1114):

How do I determine whether the solution is extraneous or not?

Nnesha (nnesha):

just plugin x =-3 into the original equation and then solve both sides if you get equal sides at the end then the solution is not an extraneous and if don't get equal sides then the solution is an extraneous

OpenStudy (airyana1114):

Awesome thank you!
