OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

Il a les yeux vert. "les yeux vert" est une groupe nominal mais ceci, c'est une groupe masculin pluriel. :)

OpenStudy (13ziar):

explain in french but correct in french sorry if that wasnt clear

OpenStudy (13ziar):

no explain in ENGLISH

OpenStudy (13ziar):

SORRY

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

I am answering 2 questions at once and playing chess, so give me a moment. :/

OpenStudy (13ziar):

OK lol

OpenStudy (13ziar):

please reply i need to finish it for tomorrow and the time is 7:50

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

"Il a les yeux vert." ^ should be ils because the noun group is plural

OpenStudy (13ziar):

but isnt ils for they and il for he

OpenStudy (13ziar):

les is because the eyes are two so..you know

OpenStudy (13ziar):

?

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

"Il a les yeux vert." ^ ^ sin. plr.

OpenStudy (13ziar):

ok

OpenStudy (13ziar):

what about the others?

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

"je ne m'entends avec mon frere." ^ insert "pas" frere should be "frère"

OpenStudy (13ziar):

ok i understand

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

Ok, so you got the first two?

OpenStudy (13ziar):

yes

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

Now let's see if you can figure out the next ones.

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

"ma mere est une avocate." What do you think?

OpenStudy (13ziar):

um...ma mère est une avocate

OpenStudy (13ziar):

do you also remove the 'une'?

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

I think you're right. :)

OpenStudy (13ziar):

sure?

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

\(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @13ziar do you also remove the 'une'? \(\color{#0cbb34}{\text{End of Quote}}\) I *think* this is optional, I can't remember...

OpenStudy (13ziar):

ok

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

I haven't spoken french in about three years, so it's not as good as I thought it was. :P I went to a french school for 5 years... but not anymore. :/

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

"je m'entend bien avec mon pere."

OpenStudy (13ziar):

pere will have an accent on it

OpenStudy (13ziar):

like on frere

OpenStudy (13ziar):

?

OpenStudy (13ziar):

i think there's another one?

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

That's one. The other thing has to do with verb usage.

OpenStudy (13ziar):

s at the end of m'entend?

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

Correct. The noun is je, not tu. :)

OpenStudy (13ziar):

ok :)

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

"dans ma famille, c'est cinq personnes."

OpenStudy (13ziar):

dans ma famille, il y a cinq personnes

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

I believe you're right. ^-^

OpenStudy (13ziar):

k

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

Almost there. "je me dispute mon frere."

OpenStudy (13ziar):

je me dispute avec mon frere (with the accent)

OpenStudy (13ziar):

is that right?

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

You've got it. :D

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

One more: "mon pere aime il travail."

OpenStudy (13ziar):

mon pere(accent) aime sa travaill

OpenStudy (13ziar):

not 100% sure?

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

Close. mon père aime *son travail

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

...And we're done :3

OpenStudy (13ziar):

is it son or sa

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

son. sa is feminine

OpenStudy (13ziar):

ok

OpenStudy (13ziar):

so: mon pere aime son travail

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

Yup. :D

OpenStudy (13ziar):

thanks but i'm a little confused on the first one?

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

Why?

OpenStudy (13ziar):

i think i remember that it would be: il a les yeux vertS

OpenStudy (13ziar):

@malcolmmcswain is that right?

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

And the ils

OpenStudy (13ziar):

i've learnt that ils means they

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

Correct.

OpenStudy (13ziar):

so doesn't il a les yeux verts means that he has green eyes?

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

It depends, il does not agree with "les yeux verts" You can change either, depending on the meaning.

OpenStudy (13ziar):

ok thanks for helping :) http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/5665f091e4b02fbc766cad9b

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

The right answer for the fist one is: Il a les yeux vert\(\color {red} s\). There is no reason for "il" to agree with "les yeux". "yeux" is plural because everyone has 2 eyes. All the following sentences are correct: Il a le nez rouge. Nous avons le nez rouge. Ils/Elles ont le nez rouge. Unlike in English, even if the subject is plural, "nose" remains singular. J'ai les yeux bleus. Il a les yeux verts. Ils ont les yeux noirs.

OpenStudy (13ziar):

thanks
