Help please? Evaluate Dx -4x+7y=1 25=2x+5y

OpenStudy (retireed):

What? Do you mean solve for x?

OpenStudy (retireed):

Thanks, it says Dx. Maybe it means solve for X in today's math terms, so that is what I will show you how to do, but I might be answering the wrong question. Is that ok?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes thats fine, thank you.

OpenStudy (retireed):

Rewrite the bottom equation so that all of the like terms line up. Like this ax +b y = A cx + dy = B where the letters are the constants

OpenStudy (retireed):

Rewrite the bottom equation so that all of the like terms line up. They will look like this: (if my typing is accurate) -4x +7 y = 1 2x + 5y = 25

OpenStudy (retireed):

I want to eliminate a variable by adding or subtracting one equation from the other, so that variable will go to zero. These two equations won"t work as they are written, but if I multiple the bottom equation by 2 ON BOTH sides. What will the bottom equation look like? I will wait for your answer. If I get no response in 5 minutes or a idk, I will move on.
