Why did unions have more power than individual workers to improve conditions? A. Individual workers rarely knew what to ask for or how to ask. B. Unions had the approval of the courts and the public. C. Owners respected unions and were happy to negotiate with them. D. One worker could be fired easily, but a whole group could not.

Workers could not appeal directly to the company for changes, but since a whole group in a union did the company was much more likely to listen.

The Companies and Public usually did not respect the appeals of the Unions.
