Which statement is true? The theme of a story may be implied through characterization or events in the story. A theme must be stated directly by the narrator or one of the characters. An example of theme is “love,” “peace,” or “war.” The subject and theme of a story are the same.

OpenStudy (sasabina123):

Do you have a guess?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Theme: "The central message of a short story is called the theme. A theme generally offers some insight into life. A story's theme is expreesed as a complete sentence, such as"Greed is the root of all evel" or "Humankind is, by nature, greedy -- even generosity is just a way of making one feel more important" I think it's either A or B. It's not D for sure. I cannot be D.

OpenStudy (sasabina123):

You could also take out B... A narrator doesn't always say the theme.

OpenStudy (sasabina123):

So what does that leave you with?
