ok one second...
The table below shows the distance y, in miles, traveled by a toy car in x minutes: Time (x) (minutes) 10 20 30 40 Distance (y) (miles) 4 8 12 15 Part A: What is the most likely value of the correlation coefficient of the data in the table? Based on the correlation coefficient, describe the relationship between time and distance traveled by the toy car. [Choose the value of correlation coefficient from 1, 0.99, 0.5, 0.02] Part B: What is the value of the slope of the graph of distance versus time between 10 minutes and 30 minutes, and what does the slope represent? Part C: Does the data in the table represent correlation or causation? Explain your answer.
@jim_thompson5910
what did you get?
so for part a....i got positive correlation of 1
why 1?
cuz the x-values increase while the y-values increase
how much are the x values increasing each time?
10
how much are the y values increasing each time?
4 4 4 and 3
if that last 3 was a 4, then the correlation coefficient would indeed be 1 a correlation coefficient of +1 means all points lie on the same line with positive slope
but not all points are on the line nearly all of them are
oh okk
so would it be 0.99
yeah it's going to be pretty close to +1, but not exactly equal to +1
ok thank you.. So for part B i would just do 8-4/20-10= 2/5
