Two migrant workers, George and Lennie, have been let off a bus miles away from the California farm where they are due to start work. George is a small, dark man with “sharp, strong features.” Lennie, his companion, is his opposite, a giant of a man with a “shapeless” face. Overcome with thirst, the two stop in a clearing by a pool and decide to camp for the night. As the two converse, it becomes clear that Lennie has a mild mental disability, and is deeply devoted to George and dependent upon him for protection and guidance. George finds that Lennie, who loves petting soft things but often accidentally kills them, has been carrying and stroking a dead mouse. George angrily throws it away, fearing that Lennie might catch a disease from the dead animal. George complains loudly that his life would be easier without having to care for Lennie, but the reader senses that their friendship and devotion is mutual. He and Lennie share a dream of buying their own piece of land, farming it, and, much to Lennie’s delight, keeping rabbits. George ends the night by treating Lennie to the story he often tells him about what life will be like in such an idyllic place. The next day, the men

OpenStudy (seb.cal):

Okay. So you should've had your Introductory paragraph written before this.. So that would just leave 4 paragraphs to go. Which paragraphs have you done? Do you need the 3 middle ones + the conclusion OR 2 middle ones + conclusion?

OpenStudy (seb.cal):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know what u look like .......... a dog that has a over bite + your village called and said they want u back at 6:00

OpenStudy (adrianna.gongora):

For the first paragraph I used some of the one you did and mixed it with some of mine so it's very similar to yours but the second paragraph I did by myself if you wan't me to change it just let me know :) but here you go You’ve seen this at your grocery stores, schools, parks, etc. The one’s who have to spend the rest of their life’s in a wheelchair. The ones who have a hard time with their speech. The 40 year olds who are incapable to shop or do anything on their own. These are the few people who have a mental disability. It wasn’t their choice to live like that, to have that disability, and act the way they do. Just because they look a different way or talk a different way, doesn’t define them as an individual. They are the same as you and me the only difference is the extra needs that they have but, the emotions are just like you and me. A lot of people who struggle with a mental disability don’t get all the help they need to strive and have a “normal life.” John Steinbeck's novel “Of Mice and Men,” illustrates the real life problem with mental disabilities and how they struggle to get the proper help they need in order to “make it” in society. In “Of Mice and Men” Lennie is mentally handicap and it results in acts of violence. He doesn’t purposely try to hurt people but because no one understands his illness no one knows how to behave or act around him. This book took place during the 1930’s. During that time people didn’t know about mental disabilities and discriminated the few people who had it. Unfortunately people look down upon people with mental illnesses and treat them unequally. People with a mental disability have a childlike mind ability, although they have the physical strength of an adult. A lot of people think that people with mental disabilities are violent, dangerous, and frightening. https://lti.flvsgl.com/content/s2it1u4i4ejjctdtaojb2qo1q3/educator_englishII_v14_2_gs/module02/pop/02_07_06/02_07_06_pops.htm https://lti.flvsgl.com/content/s2it1u4i4ejjctdtaojb2qo1q3/educator_englishII_v14_2_gs/module02/pop/02_07_06/02_07_06_popr.htm http://smallbusiness.chron.com/handicap-discrimination-1311.html
