Find sec x if tan^2 x= 1/2. Please no direct answers :) http://imgur.com/nw3ZgKX

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

I keep getting \[\sqrt{\frac{3}{2}}\] :/ I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\sec ^2x-\tan ^2x=1,\sec ^2x=1+\tan ^2x=1+\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }=\frac{ 3 }{ 2 }=\frac{ 3*2 }{ 2*2 }=\frac{ 6 }{ 4 }\] \[\sec x=\pm \frac{ \sqrt{6} }{ 2 }\]

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

Oh. Thank you :)
