HELP PLEASE! I'm so confused! My homework is asking me what 3D shape will be created when a square is rotated about the y-axis. I'm thinking that the 3D shape will be a cylinder? But it also asks to explain why it would be that 3D shape, if someone could help me, youd be a life saver lol

OpenStudy (pawanyadav):

I think a cylinder

Thats what im thinking too, but it asks me to explain why? -_- ugh i hate geometry

OpenStudy (pawanyadav):

Because the vertex rotates in a circle of radius equal to side of square so upper and lower face forms circles ,,which are characteristics of cylinders.

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

well, when we take the a straight line and rotate it about an axis, we get a circle is that clear?
