Which of the following is a true statement about osmosis? A. Osmosis is diffusion of sugar molecules across a membrane. B. Osmosis is diffusion of water molecules across a membrane. C. Osmosis is diffusion in plants cells. D. Osmosis is diffusion in animal cells.

B. Osmosis is diffusion of water molecules across a membrane.

What is the difference between osmosis and diffusion? A. Diffusion uses energy, but osmosis does not. B. Osmosis is movement of proteins, and diffusion is movement of water. C. Osmosis is a kind of diffusion that involves movement of water. D. Diffusion only occurs in animal cells and osmosis only occurs in plant cells.

Let me explain to you clearly: Diffusion and Osmosis are types of absorption in plants. DIFFUSION: Movement of solvent molecules from a region of higher conc. to a region of lower concentration until they are evenly distributed through available space. Gases such as Oxygen, carbon dioxide and nutrients like minerals move into or between the cells by diffusion. OSMOSIS: Movement of water molecules from a region of higher conc. to a region of lower concentration through a semipermeable membrane is called Osmosis.

C.Osmosis is a kind of diffusion that involves movement of water.
