Wait a sec. Am typing the ques
OpenStudy (anonymous):
A,B,C and D play a game of cards. A says to B 'If I give you 8 cards, you will have as many as C has and I shall have 3 less than that of C. Also if I take 8 cards from C, I shall have twice as many has D has. If B and D together have 50 cards, how many cards have A got ???
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I have one request before u start. Let player C be x and then continue
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Hey
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I challenge u

hartnn (hartnn):
when B gets 8 cards, it will have as many as C.
so B actually has x-8 cards, agree?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Yes so be = x-8
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Then ?
hartnn (hartnn):
after giving B 8 cards, A will have 3 cards less than C.
so A actually has x-3 +8
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Well I'm not sure what card game this is, but I'm hoping that having 34 cards and a third of a card is legal

hartnn (hartnn):
if A gets 8 cards, it will have double to that of D
so
x+5 + 8 = 2D
D = (x+13)/2
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Yes then ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
After this step it's all messed up
hartnn (hartnn):
B and D together have 50
x- 8 + (x+13)/2 = 50
only x is unknown
hartnn (hartnn):
brb

Yes but how can we solve that last step b and d
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Well maybe they're playing a card cutting game. See who can divide the cards up into the smallest pieces while keeping track of the wholes
OpenStudy (anonymous):
x-8+x+13 = 100
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Right ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Hartnn what happened ?

Herb hartnn are u there ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Not herb its hey
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Well first of all, you gotta multiply 2 all the way through. So 2x - 16 + x + 13
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Then you do some more stuff and it becomes 3x=103, hey presto.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Hartnn what the hell is wrong with u

But then that means C has 34.3 cards.
And that's some bad juju.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
U are right
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Well that's strange. Maybe you're not seeing my responses. Hmmhmm. Or our wifi connections aren't in sync
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Oh there we go.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Yeah it's some naughty math stuff. Don't know what to tell ya
