OpenStudy (noahbred):

Help check my answers? Evaluate if w = –2.1 and z = 5.7. w – z – 4

OpenStudy (sloppycanada):

Alright, what do you think it is?

OpenStudy (noahbred):

3.8

OpenStudy (sloppycanada):

No.

OpenStudy (sloppycanada):

It isn't because you have to replace the w and z with the numbers the represent. As a result of that, it should look like this - -2.1 - 5.7 - 4 = ?

OpenStudy (noahbred):

-7.6

OpenStudy (sloppycanada):

Personally, since I know that my answer is going to be negative, I'll just add this all together, and then stick a negative sign up at the front. 2.1 + 5.7 + 4 = -(?)

OpenStudy (sloppycanada):

I know my answer will be negative because you're starting with -2.1 and from there just making it smaller and smaller.

OpenStudy (noahbred):

11.8

OpenStudy (noahbred):

-11.8

OpenStudy (sloppycanada):

Correct. and because we started with negative numbers, we can assume that the answer is -11.8

OpenStudy (sloppycanada):

Make sense?

OpenStudy (noahbred):

thanksss
