A market economy is an economy in which decisions regarding investment, production, and distribution are based on supply and demand, and prices of goods and services are determined in a free price system.
Market economy is based on the principles of supply and demand, and lets business survive or fail without much interaction from the government.

The theory behind a market economy is that the market will respond to changes in demand with changes in supply.
An example of a market economy is the United States. In a market economy the resources of a country are owned and controlled by the people of the country, rather than the government. It has little to no government involvement when determining prices.
