OpenStudy (jazilove):

how did you find the answer? (i have to do step by step)

OpenStudy (jazilove):

@Cardinal_Carlo

OpenStudy (wolframwizard):

The answer is actually x=7. Using mid-segment theorem you know the mid-segment is half of the parallel side.

OpenStudy (jazilove):

im sorry i feel dumb, can you explain a little more detailed

OpenStudy (wolframwizard):

First of all, a mid-segment is a line segment connecting two midpoints of a triangle. There is a theorem that states a mid-segment is half of the parallel side. Using the diagram, 2x-6=half of 16. If 2x-6=8, solving for x gives x=7

OpenStudy (jazilove):

Wow, thank you for explaining I was so lost, thank you so much!
