OpenStudy (abbycross167):

Can someone please help me? I really need help Find the slope-intercept form of the equation that goes through these two points. (1,20) and (8,4.5)

OpenStudy (ram231):

so to figure out the slope of the equation, use this formula. Y2-Y1 over X2- X1 and then graph it to figure out the y intercept

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

4.5-20/8-1 like this?

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

@RAM231 ?

OpenStudy (ram231):

yes.

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

ok then what do i do?

OpenStudy (ram231):

and then use that to graph the slope and then you will find your y intercept.

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

-15.5/7 = y ?

OpenStudy (ram231):

now you have found the slope. and you know that it is going to be a line that goes down, so now you need to graph it on a piece of paper.

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

I graph -15.5 / 7 on the graph or just -15.5?

OpenStudy (ram231):

so its rise over run. so with it being negative, you have to go down instead of going up for the rise, so basically you go down 15.5 and then over the the right (since it isn't negative) and do that about 3 times and you will find your y intercept. I would start in the top left corner so it passes through the so called Y line

OpenStudy (abbycross167):

umm ok thank you

OpenStudy (ram231):

yeah. if you need anymore help, you are more than welcome to ask.
