I know it was not the US or China, I know the North took over the south (Vietnam), but was it North or South Vietnam that won the war against us?

i think North Vietnam – the communists – who achieved their goals of reuniting and gaining independence for the whole Vietnam won the war whereas South Vietnam under the U.S. support lost the war.
