In each case, a charged rod, made of the dense rubber ebonite, comes close or is in contact with the top of an electroscope. The ball on top of the electroscope is directly connected to the two metal leaves suspended in the flask. Which image represents a gaining of a charge on the leaves of the electroscope by conduction? i still need to get the pictures up so one second.

Someone?

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

the rod needs to be touching and the leaves, which should, all thongs being equal, acquire equal charge should be repelling each other

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So what should the leafs look like, I know that because it's conduction that the rod needs to be touching but I don't understand what the leafs do or mean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhh wait, if it's doing that, the leafs should be spread apart because the current running through it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know that's what you said lol but I don't quit understand because of how you said it, just got off work and am exhausted lol.

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

well, the charges should repel each other......try to get as far away from each other as possible. so they will go to the end of the leafs and the leaves will repel each other. i hope that helps. if not, come back whenever you like :p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok so it will be d?

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

i would go d, yes.
