deriving from dimensional analysis (physics), but this part is just algebra

I haven't got to that yet in physics, but I am wondering if it's using logs to get those x and y exponents down into a "numerical" setting.

I get where the 1 comes from i guess if s = 1 then it becomes \[1 = m^x m^y \] but even with taking the ln of each sides, we still have an unknown ln m

That is true. Yeah I tried doing that in my head and I am kinda confused. @dan815 or @Owlcoffee ? Suggestions?
