OpenStudy (help_people):

Prove that a rectangle has congruent diagonals. Be sure to create and name the appropriate geometric figures.

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

can you drawing it please - for more easy understanding ok. ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so what figure is a rectangle ?

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

so opposite sides parallel and congruent - yes ?

OpenStudy (help_people):

there is no drawing @jhonyy9

OpenStudy (help_people):

Call the side lengths, x, and y and the diagonals d1 and d2. So the length of d1 by Pythagorean theorem is the root of x^2 + y^2 or √x^2+y^2. By the definition of a rectangle opposite sides are equal so the other side across from x is x too. Then d2 is also the same thing by the Pythagorean theorem.

OpenStudy (help_people):

is this a good paagraph?
