Justin wants to use 376 ft of fencing to fence off the greatest possible rectangular area for a garden. What dimensions should he use? What will be the area of the garden? help please...

OpenStudy (misty1212):

HI!!

OpenStudy (misty1212):

you want the biggest area right?

OpenStudy (misty1212):

make a square, that will give you the largest possible area so each side is one quarter of 376

OpenStudy (mathmale):

While I agree that the greatest area is obtained when the figure is a square, we need to be able to prove that, not just take it for granted. Again, do y ou want a calculus approach or an algebra approach?

OpenStudy (j3nny0rtiz):

A. 89 x 99; 8811 ft B. 92 x 96; 8832 ft C. 94 x 94; 8836 ft D. 93 x 95; 8835 ft

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Did you take 376 and find 1/4 of it?

OpenStudy (j3nny0rtiz):

no I haven't.
