The Mitchells are renting a boat for the day. It costs $100, plus $20 for each hour. They have to pay for a whole hour even if they are not out there for a whole hour. For example if they boat for 3 and a half hours, they have to pay for 4 hours. They don't want to spend more than $250 for the day. How many hours can they boat? Write an inequality and solve. A) 100 + 20x ≤ 250. They can boat for 7 hours. B) 100 + 20x ≥ 250. They can boat for 8 hours. C) 100 + 20x ≤ 250. They can boat for 8 hours. D) 100 + 20x ≥ 250. They can boat for 7 hours.

@Astrophysics plz help???☺

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Oh wow I was just helping someone and they had the same pic as you so I thought it was the same person haha

OpenStudy (i_ask_alot):

lol i am the same person

OpenStudy (i_ask_alot):

that why i tagged you

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Oh you have 2 accounts? Why don't you work on one problem at a time

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Anyways, it's the same as the last question we did

OpenStudy (i_ask_alot):

ok can you walk me through it please

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Haha oh ok I see safy is different |dw:1450047746411:dw|

OpenStudy (i_ask_alot):

oh thats not me but about 45 mins go you helped me with one too (thats not me)

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

`They don't want to spend more than $250 for the day. How many hours can they boat?` What can we make of the sign from this?

OpenStudy (i_ask_alot):

ok @Astrophysics it is either ≤ or ≥

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Correct, but all our options have those see if you can get rid of 2 options

OpenStudy (i_ask_alot):

@AihberKhan help

OpenStudy (i_ask_alot):

I can get rid of A and C

OpenStudy (i_ask_alot):

I can get rid of A and C @Astrophysics

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

What does \[\le \] mean?

OpenStudy (i_ask_alot):

it mean less than or equal to?

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Yes so why would eliminate that when they clearly want to spend less than the amount

OpenStudy (i_ask_alot):

oh so i can eliminate B and D

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Correct, also a good way to check these answers is to plug in the given x and you will know if it's right or not

OpenStudy (i_ask_alot):

@Astrophysics is it A

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Sounds good!
