Explain "Eclecticism." Which artist best fits an eclectic?

It’s a tendency in architecture and the decorative arts to mix various historical styles with modern elements with the aim of combining the virtues of many styles. Basically mashing and bringing together a bunch of different styles to form something just a little bit different. It's not characterized as one specific style.
