it's important for the principal to know that one of the witnesses was friends with one of the people involved because that witness has a bias. he/she is more likely to lie and say that Jamie DIDN'T start the fight because he/she doesn't want to get in trouble. the witness that did not know either of the people involved is more likely to tell the truth because he/she doesn't have a bias.
