A system of equations is given below: y = 3x + 4 2x + 3y = 10 Which of the following steps could be used to solve by substitution? 3x + 4 = 2x + 3y 2x + 3(3x + 4) = 10 2(3x + 4) + 3y = 10 3(y = 3x + 4)

Substitution is plugging in numbers with a x or y. You would have to plug in something that equals a x or y into the the x or y of the other equation: y = 3x + 4 (Equals y, so all we have to do is plug it into the y on the bottom.) 2x + 3y = 10 ↑ plug in 3x+4 here for y. 2x+3(3x+4)=10 is your answer.
