i guess
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Ok the answer you put there is wrong.
There is a simple way to do this
First, calculate the area of the prism
Then, Calculate the area of the cube
Then, if you divide the area of the large one into the are of the small one that gives you the answer
OpenStudy (niahloves):
I need help with that
OpenStudy (fortytherapper):
Can you go step by step on that, Brill? I see a different way of doing this
OpenStudy (niahloves):

Sorry first of all I meant VOLUME not area I apologize
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So the volume of the larger prism is 4.5*5*3.75
The volume of the smaller cube is .25*.25*.25
You then divide the 2 for the number of cubes
OpenStudy (niahloves):
So 1.4.5*5*3.75=84.375
And .25*.25*.25=0.015625
OpenStudy (niahloves):
@Brill
OpenStudy (fortytherapper):
Yep, then do like Brill said. Divide
84.375
-----
0.015625

Sure
OpenStudy (niahloves):
James has a board that is 3/4 foot long. He wants to cut the board into pieces that are each 1/8 foot long. Which an equation represents how James can find the number of pieces he can cut from the board?
A.
1/8 + 3/4 = 7/8
B.
3/4 ÷ 1/8 = 6
C.
1/8 x 3/4 = 3/32
D.
1/8 ÷ 3/4 = 1/6
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So you have a whole, and then you're dividing it into parts of a specific size, does that sound like a similar function to you?
OpenStudy (niahloves):
nope
OpenStudy (anonymous):
By function I mean addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division

Which one is it?
OpenStudy (niahloves):
Times??
OpenStudy (anonymous):
You're taking a whole, and SPLITTING it into smaller pieces
OpenStudy (anonymous):
What is a synonym of splitting?
