Consider the following system of equations y = 5x + 6 y = −x − 7 Which description best describes the solution to the system of equations? A. Line y = 5x + 6 intersects line y = -x - 7 B. Lines y= 5x + 6 and y = -x - 7 intersects x-axis C.Lines y= 5x + 6 and y = -x - 7 intersects y-axis D. Line y = 5x + 6 intersects the origin

OpenStudy (mrnood):

the question doesn't really make sense: the 'solution' to the system is simply an 'Point' (x,y) which lies on BOTH lines if 2 lines DON'T have the same slope then they always intersect one another if a line has a slope which is not 0 then it always intersects the X axis if a line has a slope that is not 'undefined' then it always intersects the Y axis If a line has a Y intercept that is NOT zero then it does NOT pass through the origin
