I am leaning towards l'appartement. But less likley, "ami" as well.

It's "appartement" since it means the same thing in english but is spelled and said differently in french. "Ami" would work if it were directly translated to spanish to refer to amiga/amigo, however "ami" in english is "friend" and are two very distinct pronunciations and spellings although meaning the same thing.
