OpenStudy (mysticfury):

need some help with slope and intercepts, can anyone help with this?

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

What is the y-intercept of the line? y = -7x + 1

pooja195 (pooja195):

y=mx+b b=y intercept

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

so how do i use that?

pooja195 (pooja195):

Well look at the given equation

pooja195 (pooja195):

y = -7x + 1 y=mx+b

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

how do i know which is m and which and b?

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

or is it always in that order?

pooja195 (pooja195):

For slope intercept form it will always be in this order you know m is the slope its always the number next to the x

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

okay so is the answer as simple as the b = 1? cause it sure dosent seem that simple

pooja195 (pooja195):

Well it is! :) b=1 It is simple don't over think things

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

so would this be 2 then What is the slope of the line? y = 2x - 7

pooja195 (pooja195):

Yes, correct :)

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

What is the slope, and what is the y-intercept of the line? y = 2/3x - 4 my guess is the slope is 2/3 and the y intercept is 4? correct?

pooja195 (pooja195):

Good :)

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

alright just making sure

OpenStudy (mysticfury):

thank you for your help!

pooja195 (pooja195):

Yw ^_^
