Round to the nearest whole number. 88.5

OpenStudy (gottennis121):

Round up. :)

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Whole numbers don't have decimal points, so notice you have a .5 since it's .5 the rule of thumb is anything from .5 and higher you round up if it was .4 or lower you round down.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i still dont get it : |

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

56.6 = 57 (whole number) 124.4 = 124 (whole number)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Round to the nearest whole number. 88.5 A. 89 B. 80 C. 885 D. 88

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Read what I've wrote above

OpenStudy (gottennis121):

So what number would you round to if it was before the decimal? The answer cannot contain a decimal.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i have to round 57 & 124 ?

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

What? Those are just examples

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

You have 88.5 round this up because \(\color{blue}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @Astrophysics Whole numbers don't have decimal points, so notice you have a .5 since it's .5 the rule of thumb is anything from .5 and higher you round up if it was .4 or lower you round down. \(\color{blue}{\text{End of Quote}}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer would be 88

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Note that it is .5 remember I stated that if you're .5 and higher you ROUND UP

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it is 885

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hello :|

OpenStudy (gottennis121):

No. The answer will not contain the number 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh so it is 889

OpenStudy (gottennis121):

No, it will not be a three digit number either

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am so lost : {

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Ok here is an example lol If I have 92.5 I can round this up to 93 which is a whole number because whole numbers `cannot` have decimals the little dot "."

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

And I round it up because it's .5, if it's .5,.6,.7,.8.9 you round up if its .4,.3,.2,.1 you round down.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know why i dont get it ^ ^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hello 00 o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how can you round up or in other words how many numbers do you go up

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Round to the nearest whole number, so 88.5 would round up to 89.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you very much

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

@vera_ewing Do not just give the answer...
