@jabez177

jabez177 (jabez177):

You think it's C?

OpenStudy (benlindquist):

i need to be walked through, i don't get it, and that answer is wrong doing corrections

jabez177 (jabez177):

I don't get this question either lol @malcolmmcswain

OpenStudy (benlindquist):

@nincompoop

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

(.75x) + 0.5 = 14

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

By "increased by one half" I assume it means add one half and not multiply by 1.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ 3 }{ 4 }x+\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }=14\] multiply each term by 4 and simplify Then find x

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

Exactly.

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

I just used decimals lol because they're easier to compute, in my opinion.

OpenStudy (benlindquist):

i do not get this

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

Ok, so it's basic algebra. Let's solve for x. Like surjitahyer said, we multiply both sides by 4 to make it easier. so we get, 3x + 2 = 56

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

Now, can you solve for x from there?

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

@benlindquist

OpenStudy (benlindquist):

yes

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

Ok, so what is x?

OpenStudy (benlindquist):

18

OpenStudy (malcolmmcswain):

correct.
