A water tank composed of a cylinder and 2 half spheres is shown below. The tank is being filled with drinking water by using a bucket that can hold 0.34 cubic feet of water. Emma is able to pour 5 full buckets into the tank every 3 minutes. How long will it take to fill the water tank completely at this constant rate? Use 3.14 for pi and round to the nearest whole minute. The volume of the tank is ?? cubic feet and it will be completely filled with water at the end of ?? minutes. The cylinder is below. <3
I need an explanation on how to do it..if you don't mind. :D
so - you could imagine the tank is made up of a cylinder and 2 hemispheres 2 hemisphers is 1 sphere so you need to know: the formulae for the volume of a cylinder the formulae for the volume of a sphere write those here.. and write the values for r and h from the drawing too..
\[v=\pi r^2 h\] formula of a cylinder?
yess good so - look at the centre section of th etank - it is a cylinder what is r and h for that cylinder?
3 and 4?
careful ! radius or diameter???
3 is the radius and 4 is the diameter? :o
no we want th radius the height is 4 but what is the RADIUS (not diameter)
I'm sort of confused..
you know th edifference between radius and diameter? look at the diagram - which dimension is 3 ft?
|dw:1450364326156:dw| what is the radius of that circle?
3.
3 is the diameter what is th eradius
|dw:1450364719706:dw| r is the radius - what does it measure??
