Why does the sound of something moving away from you seem to change to a lower and lower pitch? A) As the source moves away, the increased distance creates more interference; so the pitch drops. B) As the source moves away, the frequency of the sound waves is being compressed, so the pitch drops. C) As the source moves away, the sound waves speed up to reach the observer; this causes the pitch to drop. D) As the source moves away, the sound waves stretches out relative to the person standing still; so the pitch drops.

@Nnesha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it is D

OpenStudy (shamim):

Yes, correct !!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you so much! here is a medal!

OpenStudy (shamim):

U r most welcome !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have another question...

OpenStudy (shamim):

U know low pitch means low frequency of sound wave. Right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes I do.

OpenStudy (shamim):

Pitch is proportional to the frequency

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is the Doppler effect right?

OpenStudy (shamim):

Source of a sound wave is going away frm me. So frequecy listening by me will b lower than the original frequency

OpenStudy (shamim):

Yes it is dopler sffect

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you help me with another question?

OpenStudy (shamim):

I wanna try, but can i ask u a question !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Of course!

OpenStudy (shamim):

For curiosity, frm which country u r now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

USA

OpenStudy (shamim):

Hmm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@shamim ?

OpenStudy (shamim):

This quesyion is ad b4!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oops sorry wrong one!lol! A piece of driftwood moves up and down as water waves pass beneath it. However, it does not move toward the shore with the waves. What does this demonstrate about the propagation of waves through a medium? A) Waves transmit energy but not matter as they progress through a medium. B) Waves transmit matter but not energy as they progress through a medium. C) Waves do not transmit matter or energy as they progress through a medium. D) Waves transmit energy as well as matter as they progress through a medium.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@shamim

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think it is D

OpenStudy (shamim):

I think it will b a

OpenStudy (shamim):

Because driftwood is not moving

OpenStudy (shamim):

Driftwood is not moving to the shore

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh Ok I get it now! Thank you! I have another question.

OpenStudy (shamim):

Go to msin page to ask more wuestion

OpenStudy (shamim):

Main

OpenStudy (shamim):

Its rule of this site

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok I will start a new thread and tag you.

OpenStudy (shamim):
