a rational number is any number that can be expressed in a fractional form. So what number can not be expressed in a fractional form.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not very good with Math. I don't even understand what fractional form is.

okay, any number can be divide into another number. for example if you wanted to find out if 5 was a irrational number. I can ask does 5 divide into what number such as 1 so this would be a rational number.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

An example of irrational number would be pi because the number is 3.14.... goes on and on so this can not be put into a fraction form

I should have also stated goes on and on without any pattern such as a repeated decimal
