Plot the points on a graph. You'll see it's a line. Notice that for every 1 x increases, y decreases 5. Slope is change in y over change in x. So the slope is -5/1. Notice that when x is 0, y is -1. -1 is the y-intercept: the y value when x is 0. A line in slope intercept form is y=mx+b: m is the slope, and b is the y intercept. So this line's equation, the function, is y = -5x -1
