OpenStudy (welshfella):

one method involves 3 arithmetical calculations and the other one using just 2. Which is which?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

was method 1 3 airmethical calculations?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

If i were working out a ( b + c) (where a , b and c are any numbers I woulf first add b and c , then multiply the result by c That is 2 opeartions.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

To work out a*b + a* c - how many operations ?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

Yes method 1 does 3 oparations. So by using the distributive peoperty you do 1 less operation.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

in general form the distributive property can be written as ab + ac = a(b + c)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so howdo we answer thwe question with our information we have

OpenStudy (welshfella):

just explain how you convert 8(14.95) + 8(34.95) using the distribute property and show how the calculations only involve 2 operations as opposed to 3 operations .
