HELP WITH MATH HOMEWORK MEDAL= REWARD! Determine which relation is a function. A. {(–3, 3), (–2, 3), (–1, 1), (0, 4), (0, 1)} B. {(–3, 2), (–1, 3), (–1, 2), (0, 4), (1, 1)} C. {(–3, 2), (–2, 3), (–1, 2), (0, 4), (1, 1)} D. {(–3, 2), (–2, 3), (–1, 1), (0, 4), (0, 1)}
If you plot all these points on graphs you should be able to see which ones are a function
@Elizabeth0197 I don't know how to tell if it's a function on a graph. Can you help?
Well, what kind of functions have you learned about ex: Linear, Exponential, quadratic
linear
@Elizbeth0197
Then plot all of them and see which ones are linear functions
Another way to do it if it's a linear function is find the slopes of all the points in the set and if they're all equal then they are a linear function!
A function is represented by a set of values where every x-value corresponds to EXACTLY one y-value.
@Elizbeth0197, a function is not always linear.
So is it B.?
hi
@OpenStudier I figured in this case it was because @popbottlesoda said that was what they were learning
No, because B has two values for x = -1.
Then it's D. Because it doesn't have 2 values of anything?
Oh wait! it's C. sorry not D
Yup! Nice job!
