How did coffeehouses contribute to the development of the Enlightenment?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Taxes on coffee enraged the people of England and France against their governments. Coffeehouses provided a setting in which citizens could gather to exchange ideas. Coffeehouses were a breeding ground of anti-monarchical theories and conspiracies. Coffeehouses enriched the economies of Paris and London, creating more leisure time.
