Are my answers correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For the first one, you get a quadratic equation once you equate the denominators and the value of discriminant is greater than 0, making it have 2 solutions.

OpenStudy (diana.xl):

3 is the only answer i got, because 2 was undefined. so thats why i think there is only one solution

No. After finding the discriminant equal to 1, you get\[x=\frac{ 5\pm1 }{ 2 }\], giving you 2 and 3 as roots.

OpenStudy (diana.xl):

ok. what about the second question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Extraneous solution is a solution of a simplified version of an equation that does not satisfy the original equation. You got correct.
